Roman Herrera is a senior computer science and information technology professional with over a decade of experience designing and advising on large-scale, data-intensive systems. Mr. Durak has been involved with clinical exercise and medical research since the late 1980s. He has worked with population groups such as: Raynaud’s Syndrome, Diabetes (type 1, type 2, gestational) general pregnancy, most cancers, End Stage Renal Disease, Hypertension, Post rehab Orthopedic, Cardiac care, Elderly, Gullian-Barre Syndrome, and pain management through movement and exercise. He has published in leading medical journals and has spoken at over 150 national and international conferences. He is currently a partner in the Fitness Is Medicine Initiative, and the author of over 20 health and wellness publications, including Population Health Management Specialist CEU program, published in 2019.
Jenni is Founder and Lead Sport Scientist of Aqueous, an international sport science and sports medicine organization. Their mission is to integrate with healthcare systems and large-scale athletic teams to utilize applied sport science for biomechanics, performance enhancement, injury prevention and rehabilitation services. As an independent consultant, Jenni has created medical wellness program models for the health & fitness and health club community and has designed cross-functional medical fitness teams that include physicians, health systems board members, physical therapists, exercise physiologists, athletic trainers, and physician extenders.
As ACE’s National Spokesperson and Global Wellness Ambassador, Anthony J. Wall, PhD, oversees ACE’s international B2B strategy and ACE’s Academic partnerships. Dr Wall serves as a member of the Physical Activity Innovative Collaborative of the National Academies of Medicine and was an Education Committee member for the Medical Fitness Association for 8 years. With over 25 years of experience in the fitness industry, Wall shares his expertise at industry workshops and conferences globally. As IDEA World’s 2019 Top Industry Contributor, Wall presents globally. He is often used as an expert within the media by many respected national outlets, including The Washington Post, The Good Life magazine, Real Health magazine, Women’s Health, and many more.
Linda Shelton, inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame in 2007, is an internationally recognized, award-winning fitness authority, certified trainer, speaker, and wellness writer, who for over four decades has been inspiring millions around the world to a healthier way of life. She was one of the founding members of AFAA (The Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, renamed the Athletics and Fitness Association of America in 2016), and in 1983 co-authored their Exercise Standards & Guidelines and Primary Certification. In constant demand as a “visionary” exercise programmer and developer of educational content, Linda has been engaged by some of the world’s most renowned and well-respected health and wellness brands to deliver inspiring and highly effective programming.
Linda is also a three-time award winning director, having produced, directed, and/or choreographed over 4,000 fitness DVDs and On-Demand digital workouts, and co-produced four award-winning television fitness shows. She was the Fitness Director for Shape Magazine for 23 years, and in March 2018, Linda was the recipient of a Recognition Award from WIFA as one of six women honored to have ‘birthed the fitness industry.’
Jarrod received his first personal training certification at age 17, and by age 18 became the youngest Medical Exercise Specialist in the United States, specializing in Pre and Post Rehab-“Bridging the gap between health care and fitness.” He began working closely with health care professionals, and quickly expanded his practice to include training clients with major injuries and physical challenges. By age 23 he was promoted to General Manager of a high end, 35,000 square foot health club on the Philadelphia Main Line. A short time later, he was recruited to take over the Fitness Manager position at a newly acquired club in Jenkintown, PA, with the goal of revitalizing an underperforming personal training department. Within two years he and his team grew the business by over 500%, and Jarrod was voted Manager of the Year in a 4 club, 40 manager organization. After moving to Delaware for family reasons, Jarrod opened two small facilities, launched his consulting business, and in short order sold the facilities to focus his full energy on consulting.
He is consistently a top-rated speaker and presenter at national fitness industry conferences, including IHRSA, Club Industry, NEHRSA, Can Fit Pro, the National Fitness Tradeshow, CMS Conventions, and YMCA Meetings. In 2011 he went international, presenting as a keynote speaker in Finland in July of 2011 and Sweden in October 2013. Robert E. Sallis, M.D., FACSM, serves as the chairman for the Exercise is Medicine initiative and previously served as President (2007-08) of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Dr. Sallis received his Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy and his medical degree from Texas A&M University. He completed his residency in family medicine at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Fontana, Calif., where he served as chief resident. He has served as the head team physician at Pomona College since 1988 and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in sports medicine. Dr. Sallis lectures and publishes extensively in the sports medicine arena and serves as chairman of the Science Advisory Committee to Governor Schwarzenegger’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. He received the 2008 Community Leadership Award from the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, and the 2009 Leonardo da Vinci award for international leadership in sports medicine from the Italian Federation of Sports Medicine. Dr. Sallis currently serves as editor-in-chief of ACSM’s clinical journal, Current Sports Medicine Reports.
Patrick R. Mummy, CEO of Symmetry for Health, earned a baseball scholarship to San Diego State University, where he was named MVP, Academic All-Conference, and earned a B.S. in Athletic Training in 1993. His passion for athletic performance and injury prevention led him to explore postural alignment and its impact on overall health. Recognizing the importance of biomechanics, he dedicated his career to developing innovative solutions for improving posture and movement efficiency.
In 1997, he founded Symmetry and later secured a patent for his postural assessment system, AlignSmart Technology. His expertise has led him to author three books and present at over 50 conferences, where he has been a keynote speaker eight times. As a leader in postural correction, he continues to expand Symmetry’s reach by certifying practitioners worldwide. Through his work, he is helping individuals improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance overall well-being.
Dr. Dennis Clark is a research scientist specializing in plant natural products chemistry and herbal medicine. He received his PhD degree in plant chemistry from the University of Texas and spent 30 years as a professor at Arizona State University. He has also been Visiting Professor at the University of Heidelberg (Germany) and the University of California at Riverside. He has written a college-level textbook on botany, several eBooks about natural approaches to health, and dozens of research articles in professional scientific journals. Dr. Clark enjoys teaching others about herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, and other natural approaches to health.

Mustapha has been an accounting professional for more than twenty-five years and has been specializing in corporate finance and taxation for more than twenty. He spent fifteen years as the CFO of a 30-million-dollar company and subsequently has helped countless small business clients with all aspects of their fiscal business operations, quarterly and annual reporting and corporate tax preparation.
Mr. Rahal has Masters Degrees in both Accounting and Taxation, is QuickBooks certified, and two years ago was approved by the IRS as an “Enrolled Agent” – the highest credential awarded by the IRS, and one requiring extensive experience with both individual and business tax returns and adherence to strict ethical standards. His extensive financial knowledge and accounting experience make him an invaluable member of our Board.
Beth Eisele is a seasoned fitness professional with more than thirty years’ experience designing, supervising and leading group exercise programs across top tier health clubs throughout New York, New Jersey and California. Her expertise spans programming dynamic, results-driven classes, mentoring and cultivating group fitness instructors and inspiring participants of all ages and fitness levels through her wealth of knowledge, engaging teaching style and unwavering commitment to excellence both in and out of the studio. Beth has been certified by AFAA, MadDogg®, Pilates® and NASM and is widely regarded as a leader in the fitness industry. She has created inclusive wellness communities, embraced emerging trends in fitness and holistic health, and consistently elevates the standard of group fitness instruction. She has also developed programs and presented educational content throughout the US and abroad. Her deep belief in movement as a vehicle for empowerment continues to shape her work and energize those around her.
Marcinda has been assisting senior executives and business owners in managing businesses since she was in high school. Her family owned a communications business that focused on pagers, digital messaging and other comms systems, and gave her the opportunity to experience and understand virtually every role in the company. This ultimately led to her running one of the first cellular phone businesses in Joplin, MO as that technology was first emerging.
After that she spent a number of years in retail management, learning the fundamentals and best practices of managing a brick-and-mortar business. From there she came to her current position running a multimillion-dollar automotive repair shop. Master of many skills, she runs all of the repair shop’s HR, parts inventory, and payroll. To round things out she also serves as the company’s corporate safety officer.
Her personal life has been equally interesting, with many years spent managing her two sons’ private school activities including volunteer assignments, fundraising and event planning. Understandably she has become quite adept at organizing, documenting and scheduling multi-faceted situations.
Her unique background and varied skill sets make her ideally suited for the role of Secretary, and she is excited to be in on the ground floor of such a large, multi dimensional and ultimately hugely beneficial project. And we are happy to have her.
David Pack, Ph.D., is a product of Park & Rec programs and has extensive experience in both in the trenches and in senior management. He grew up playing competitive soccer and tennis through his D1 scholarship years while managing health clubs. His doctoral dissertation centers on customer-targeted marketing for athletic facilities. With additional degrees in public administration, psychology, sociology, political science, communications, and public relations, David has enjoyed success as a CEO, CFO, president, consultant and equity partner of various companies. David has served in many capacities on many non profit boards of directors, and he is delighted to be leading this one.
Laurie is an experienced Board Member and Executive Director with a demonstrated history of success working in the fine art and parks & recreation industries. Her diverse background includes skillsets in Nonprofit Organizations, Analytics, Coaching, Government, and Microsoft Word.
Laurie Stringham was born and raised in Sandy, Utah, and raised her five children in Kearns. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theater Arts from the University of Utah, specializing in Technical Theater. She is a business owner, Utah educator, preserver of Arts, supporter of Youth Sports and Recreation, and an advocate for those who do not have a voice.
Prior to her current role as Councilperson-At-Large for Salt Lake County, Laurie previously served on the Board of Trustees of the Kearns Oquirrh Recreation and Parks District which operates the Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center and owns the Utah Olympic Oval. During her 21 years serving on the board, Laurie worked tirelessly to keep taxes and fees low, develop community services, improve community health and wellness, and oversaw a responsible and transparent service district. She also helped bring the world to our community during the 2002 Winter Olympics, the most successful Winter Games to date. It is the only Olympic games with facilities still in operation. Laurie believes that what Parks & Rec Rx is doing is long overdue and is excited to be a part of this powerful mission. The rest of the Parks & Rec Rx Leadership Team see exceptional value in the skills and experience Laurie brings to the table and are equally thrilled to have her on board.
Dr. Carl Gold has been an Anesthesiologist for more than thirty-five years, and when he was not safely putting people to sleep, he was always looking for ways to improve population health. He has worked at the highest levels of health care inside major medical centers in Boston, South Texas, Missouri and Illinois, where experience has taught him how beneficial these places can be, but also shown him the massive disconnect between healthcare and wellness.
His wealth of knowledge and experience in clinical practice, healthcare administration, clinical education, and medical knowledge in general are invaluable to the Parks & Rec Rx Population Health project, and having held leadership positions in hospitals, governmental institutions and educational systems, he fully understands facing challenges, overcoming obstacles and working with a talented team towards our mutually desired goals.
As our Medical Director, Dr. Gold will collaborate with the other members of our leadership team to craft a model for advancing individual fitness and wellness, and with it, overall population health through the many Parks and Recreation districts and their wonderful fitness/wellness centers and knowledgeable staff.
He is thrilled and proud to be a part of this amazing project and looks forward every day to helping drive the long-term benefits to population health that he knows are possible.
